Fifty horse and rider combinations from 5 European countries will be competing in the WWR CUP 2005 – International Western Riding Show in Poland, which will take place at Iwno Horse Stud (200 km from German border) on the 11th-12th of June, 2005.

The WWR Show is one of the largest events on Polish soil. After it’s success last year, when the show attracted a lot of interest from visitors, media and top Polish riders, the organizers have expanded the competitive ranks.

This year the competition is connected with a mini fair featuring the latest equine trends, breeding horses, equipment and other related topics. Polish and foreign exhibitors will visit the fair, and there will be the possibility to expand trade contacts and make new ones.

There is some modification to the show schedule - The WWR CUP 2005 will consist of the following events and classes: Reining Open, Reining Youth, Jackpot Reining Junior, Western Pleasure Open, Western Pleasure Youth, Trail Open, Trail Youth. The newest show class will be Jackpot Working Cow Horse.

The show starts on June 11 with the Go Round of the Trail Youth and Open, Western Pleasure Youth and Open, Reining Youth and Open. This day riders will be compete in Jackpot Reining Junior also. The day before (June 10) the show management offers warm up opportunities. On Sunday the 12th the finals of all classes will be held as well as a Cutting demonstration.

The WWR CUP 2005 will be judged by Dr. Hilde Jarc (Austria), who is a NRHA International and FEI judge. She has owned and ridden horses since becoming financially able at the age of 22 although she had dreamed of it since childhood and while studying chemistry. With her Arabian she has done everything from dressage and jumping to eventing and endurance (they were FEI Vice European Champions and European Champions in 1984 and 1985). Since the early eighties she has also been involved in Western Riding. When Western Riding started in Austria they attended the first clinics (with Jean Claude Dysli) and promoted the sport. She succeeded in making Western Riding part of the Austrian National Federation at this time and she is responsible for Western Riding in our FENA. At the first European Championship in Aachen in 1982 she started for the Austrian team and attended her first judging clinic and she has been judging ever since. She also works in a leading position for the Ministry of Health and Women.

Participation in WWR CUP 2005 confirmed many top Polish and European riders including:

Marie Karlsson, Greta Wilkenson, Jacqueline Lang-Andersson and Simon Andersson from Sweden.

Marie is a Swedish professional Western trainer. She is the five time Swedish Champion in Reining, Western Riding and Western Horsemanship, four time Year end award winner (highest ranked rider) in Reining, Western Riding, Western Pleasure and Western Horsemanship and the European FEWI Youth Champion and German EWU Youth Champion. As a co-trainer for German top rider, George Maschalani, she gained great experience while riding up to fourteen horses every day, six days a week. In 2002, she graduated as a top student from a three year Horse Training Program at the BergaSchool of Agriculture. Marie was selected to be part of Team Tumbleweed 2005, a sponsored team with the four best riders in Sweden, consisting of two reiners, one Hunter/Pleasure rider and a youth rider.

Austria will be represent by Tomas Barta, professional trainer from Groß/Enzerdorf (near Vienna). Tomas is NRHA and AQHA Champion in Reining, Working Cow Horse and Cutting. He has hosted many clinics in Austria and Poland and his students have already started enjoying  success at European shows. Tomas is also a NRHA judge. This will be the second show in Poland at which he has participated.

Jiri Kasparek is an experienced rider from the Czech Republic. Jiri is a multiple Senior Reining Champion and CZQHA Cutting Reserve Champion. In cooperation with Western Horsmanship, Team Piechowice Kasparek regularly host western riding clinics in Poland. He will show two of his own horses at the WWR Cup – AQH stallion Jacs Cro Bar and APH Gota Lota Smart.

Lothar König, a talented German rider, will show the blue roan 4 yr old AQH stallion Be Aech Broadyprise (by Broadway BH) bred by Rolf Peterka. This will be the debut of this pair in Polish arenas.

The WWR CUP will present PLWiR Open and Reserve Reining Champions – Aleksander Jarmula and Marek Nortman. Aleksander is a well know Polish reiner, who represents Poland in European show arenas. He has repeatedly won PLWiR Reining Champion Titles in the Senior class. He also started with the 8 yr old stallion Miles O Rima (by Jack O Rima) in the Czech Republic and Austria. In the last FEI European Reining Championships, he was the Polish representative.

Please note that Iwno Horse Stud (full-blooded racehorse breeders) is located in the town of Iwno, a traditional Polish village, 30km from Poznan and the show is being hosted by The WWR Team, The Transterm Company, and Iwno Horse Stud Managment. The event will be a great opportunity to introduce yourselves to the Polish market and to make new contacts.

One thing is certain already: The WWR CUP 2005 will be a milestone in Central European Western Riding history.
