On the first weekend of October the Prosper Horse Ranch in Celadna hosted the last show of the western riding season in Czech Republic – the Western Riding Club CR Championship. More than 80 horses participated in 10 classes, providing a lot of excitement to more than 1500 spectators. As always reining highlighted the whole Championship. The show was judged by Ms. Hilde Jarc (Austria), Ms. Miluse Tomcikova and Mr. Jaroslav Havlik (both from the Czech Rep.).

The Western Riding Club of Czech Rep. (WRC) is the oldest and biggest Czech association dedicated to the promotion of western riding. Born in 1990, the WRC organizes evry year the Championship show, considered to be the most important show of the season. This year for the first time the show took place in Celadna. The facility managed by the Paint Horse s.r.o. company is one of the best western riding facilities not only in Czech Republic but also in Central Europe. Next to the horse ranch there a 18-hole golf course.

The show started on Friday (the 1st of October) with the first goes of three reining classes – Junior, Amateur and Senior. On Saturday and Sunday there was the finals of all other classes and of course all the reining finals. Karla Sevcikova riding Skips Diablo Bar won the Championship title in western pleasure. Katerina Valskova astride Jantar won the western horsemanship Amateur. In trail, Ivana Pohlova scored 211,5 for a penalty-free run astride Persing. And Pavel Malek on Crazy Spotted won the superhorse class.

In the first go of the Amateur reining Petr Julina riding his own 4-year-old mare Bueno Chex Lady (by Dunit Rawhide, out of Bueno Chex Millie) tied for the first place with Lukas Jirak astride Pokeys Easter Star (a 9 year-old mare by Pokalito). They both made correct runs and scored 208. Petr’s wife, Monika, placed third, riding Miss Bobby Jac Scoot. With this horse Monika won the last year’s WRC Champion title in Amateur reining. On Saturday Monika Julinova took the lead by scoring 204,5. But Petr and Lukas entered the arena just after her. Lukas Jirak showed a nice run, plussing in the circles. He earned the top score of the final, 210 pts. and won the Champion title with a composite score of 418. Petr Julina finished second, 4 points behind Jirak.

On Sunday morning 16 horse and rider combinations competed for the title in Junior reining. In the first go, Klara Salkova riding Bueno Chax Lady (owner: P. Julina) get 210 points and took the lead. Tomas Martinek on A Hollywood Sweetie (owner: P. Malis), a 4-year-old mare by Hollywood Dun It, was second, just a half point behind her. With her second horse, Doc Toni Tee (owner: I. Zezulkova), Klara Slakova earned a score of 207,5 and tied for third place with Karel Kubata on Pretty Miss Starbuck (by Smart Starbuck).

The spectators gathered in Celadna have seen some very nice runs in the final. Klara Salkova placed all her three horses in the first five! With Monty Blue Sky (owner: V. Sedlacek), a 4-year-old stallion by Jac O Rima, she made a nice run, with very good spins and nice stops (plus scores). Then the judges gave a penalty for counter canter on the left circle, which meant a score of 205. With Doc Toni Tee Klara placed third – two clean and correct runs (207,5 and 209 pts.) resulted in a composite score of 416,5. Tomas Martinek astride A Hollywood Sweetie earned the best score of the class. With fast spins and good speed control, he earned 213 pts. It was a happy-end for this talented rider. He was the favorite to win the Czech Champion title in August in Nova Amerika but overspinning in the final run resulted in a 0-score. This time the composite score of 422,5 gave him the first place and the WRC Champion title. Klara Salkova riding Bueno Chex Lady won the Reserve Champion title after a very smooth run with plus spins, very fast circles and a composite score of 420,5.

The Senior reining was a masterpiece by Klara Salkova and her bay stallion Smart Chiconita (by Smart Chic Olena, out of One More Memory). She was second after the first go. It certainly wasn’t her day on Friday. She was three points behind Ivan Cernoch. Ivan and Littles First (by Jac Von Wolverton) earned 212,5 pts., leaving a very good impression. A clean, precise run.

But on Sunday Klara Salkova left no chance to other competitors. With Smart, they plussed almost all the meneuvers, from the first set of spins to the last sliding stop. She took the risk but it was worth trying. Fast spins, Fast circles and precise speed control, good stops earned her a 218 - the highest score of the whole show. The crowd cheered the winning team and what a time it is! It was the second Championship title for Klara and Smart Chiconita this year (they are Czech Reining Champions and WRC Champions). And Klara was already Czech reining Champion in 1999, 2000 and 2001. The pair won all the most important shows of the season, including the AQHA approved Senior Reining during the 3rd CZQHA Show. But that’s not all. For the fourth consecutive year, Klara and Smart won the year-end title of Reining Champions, which is based on points gathered throughout the whole season (twice in Junior reining and twice in Senior reining). Ivan Cernoch finished second with a score of 210 (composite score of 422,5). Karel Barotek riding Miss Bobby Jac Scoot (by Squaws Bobby Jac) came third with a composite score of 418,5 pts.
